1. Relying on a Single Light Source
It is not a good idea to rely solely on one source of lighting unless you want your home to look like a hospital. Adding layers of different types of light sources is now standard practise not only in residential spaces, but also in workplaces and other interior settings. While recessed lights are excellent for general lighting, pendant lights, floor lamps, and cove lights, among other things, are excellent for ambient lighting. Spot lights are useful for emphasising specific artworks or emphasising specific areas. Task lights are also very useful, especially on a reading desk or in the kitchen.
